Set within a dreamlike version of the American West, High Stakes follows Lotus as they search for where they belong. The story unfolds as a journey through an inner world, where each performance reflects an emotion, a guiding presence, a fear, a desire, or possibility that shapes Lotus's understanding of themself. Rather than following a traditional plot, the show invites audiences into a symbolic landscape inhabited by abstract creatures, wandering tumbleweeds, glitterbugs, ever-changing cacti, cowboys, bedazzled queer glamour, and navigational imagery. Together, these symbolic encounters reveal another piece of Lotus's journey, celebrating the courage to embrace the person they were always meant to be.
